8/21/15   Notice to all clients:

Starting in September, we will be sending “vaccination reminder cards” via email instead of through the mail. Please make sure we have your current email address on your account so you will be notified when your pets are due for their yearly shots/exams.

Thank you!    –Monticello Animal Hospital staff

8/11/15    We at Monticello Animal Hospital would like to introduce you to a new therapy—The Class 4 Laser that will be offered to help heal your pets. So what is laser therapy? This is a surgery-free, drug-free, noninvasive treatment that will help reduce pain, inflammation, and speed up healing. The class 4 deep tissue laser uses a beam of laser light to penetrate tissue without damaging it. Laser energy induces a biological response in the cells called “photo-bio-modulation”, which leads to reduced pain, reduced inflammation, and increases healing time. The class 4 laser therapy is an evolving science in veterinary medicine and has been used successfully to aid in the treatment of a growing number of conditions. This is a scientific proven therapy for post surgical pain as well as acute and chronic conditions.

Examples of acute conditions include:
*wounds, allergies, infections, cuts/burns, tooth extractions and pain relief, sprains, strains, fractures and post-surgical healing and pain relief
Examples of chronic conditions include:
*degenerative joint disease, inflammatory bowel disease, periodontal disease, lick granulomas, hip dysplasia, feline acne, tendonitis, arthritis, otitis.

If you are interested in more information or would like to schedule a consult for laser therapy, give us a call at (913) 422-0301!

***A notice to all patients coming in for Boarding or Grooming:***

Due to the recent outbreak of Canine Influenza, we are now requiring the Canine Flu Vaccine for ALL dogs coming in for Boarding or Grooming. This is to take effect immediately and will continue until further notice. This vaccine does not cover the new Asian strain, but might help with some cross immunity. We want to be proactive on protecting all pets that stay with us.

Welcome to Monticello Animal Hospital. We were established in 2002 as a full service veterinary hospital that caters to dogs, cats, and exotic pets in western Shawnee. We offer appointments but will welcome walk-ins and drop off appointments. Our services focus on preventative health care that includes wellness exams and vaccinations, parasite control, behavior and nutritional consultations, dental care, and senior blood work.
